Thwack South Africa was approached by a client requesting glorifier units that would be used when nightclub customers purchase a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. When I was handed this project client had already approved a design that a former Thwack 3D artist had modeled. My role was to remodel the design in CAD and adjust it to fit the required electronics so that a physical working prototype could be created. My colleagues and I then set about building prototypes. After three prototypes, the actual glorifiers were finally batch manufactured.
The prototype was made up of 3D printed sections that we joined with steel rod inserts and adhesive. A smooth surface was created by covering the prototype with body filler and sanding it down. After painting it, we inserted the electronics, perspex inserts, bottle holder and screw.
Placing the Veuve Bottle into the glorifier pushes down a pressure pad which activates a switch which then turns on the ultraviolet LEDs.
